    ...They break noses too!

Lead singer Kyle Falconer decided on stage diving during a performance at Barrowland in Glasgow, Scotland last month. During this, he managed to break a fan's nose!

The band were then keen to find the injured fan afterwards and make sure that he was ok. Once the unnamed man had been found by The View's management, a backstage pass was arranged and he was invited for a beer.

    Aww, what nice lads!

    Kyle plays 'allstars' gig

Former Libertine Carl Barat joined forces with Babyshambles' Drew McConnell, The View's Kyle Falconer and Jon 'The Revend' McLure last night (December 16) to play two Libertines songs live in north London.

The collective, with Reverend And The Makers' Stuart Doughty on drums, played two songs at the Boston Arms in Tufnell Park, where McConnell and McLure's side project Mongrel were hosting a gig.

Before the ensemble gathered on stage Falconer played a short solo set with just vocals and electric guitar. Then the others joined him to play The Libertines' singles 'Don't Look Back Into The Sun' and 'Can't Stand Me Now'.

After the impromptu set, which had followed a short performance from McConnell's new three-piece punk band The Traitors, Mongrel played a full live show.

The set included 'Lies', 'The Menace' and 'Julian' – all songs set to feature on the band's debut album, 'Better Than Heavy', set for release in February.

Following the show McLure invited audience members to join them onstage for a jam, with Babyshambles guitarist Mik Whitnall among those who accepted the invitation.

    Fan tells of injury

A FAN who had his nose broken by Kyle Falconer of Dundee rockers The View has told how he was given five-star treatment to make up for his mishap.

Ewan Ross, 28, got smacked in the face when the frontman stage-dived into the crowd at the Glasgow Barrowland gig.

The band's management were horrified when they found out and gave Ewan and his pals access to the band's exclusive after-show party following the gig.

Ewan, left, explained: "I am the fan who got his nose broken by Kyle stage diving. It was me and a couple of mates at the gig.

"At the very end of the set, everyone was going wild. Kyle jumped into the crowd and my mate caught him just in front of me.

"But he slipped and Kyle's head smacked straight against my nose. It was quite bloody and I knew it was broken because it was wobbling a bit.

"Everyone was going a bit crazy at the end of the gig. All I saw was the lead singer flying through the air then I got banged in the face. We were right in the centre near the front, about four people back. It was packed out and there was no room to dodge any flying heads."

The Edinburgh-based engineer said: "The injury was noticable but I wasn't concussed.

"I'd had a couple of beers so it wasn't as sore as it could have been. The head bouncer told the manager who arranged for us to meet up with the band at the Barfly venue for the aftershow party.

"Me and my mates got some VIP treatment, including getting to meet all the band members, who were very apologetic. We got free drinks all night and hung out.

"The manager said he'd also try to get us tickets for The Fratellis when they play in Glasgow soon, so I'm hoping that comes off."

The View, meanwhile, release Which Bitch, their follow-up to the chart-topping album Hats Off To The Buskers, on February 2, 2009.

    Kyle Breaks Fan's Nose

THE View have revealed they accidentally broke a fan's nose during a gig.

The Dundee upstarts have almost finished their recent tour of the UK, with more than a few mishaps along the way.

It's now been admitted that Kyle Falconer's crowd surfing antics during the concert at Glasgow's Barrowland led to a boy's nose being smashed.

The band's sound engineer Davey Dial Up confessed the incident happened after Kyle decided to dive into the audience and mingle with his fans at the end of the sold-out gig.

He said: "After the last song, Kyle launched himself from the stage into the crowd and the other three quickly follow him in. Security eventually pulled Kyle back to safety, half naked and shoeless.

"We later found out Kyle broke a guy's nose on his crash landing into the pit."

The band were obviously concerned about the mishap, so decided to offer the fan some VIP treatment to help make up for the damage.

Davey added: "The management tracked the guy down and Kyle organised to get him a pass and invited him backstage for a beer."

A member of the View's management said: "Kyle stage dived at the end of the gig and unfortunately landed on some lad in the audience.

"He obviously felt bad and they invited him backstage for a pint or two by way of apology. There's not really much to say beyond that except there was no malice involved and the band were very eager to make up for the accident."

The crowd surfing moment was captured on camera and will be released on DVD at some point next year.

The boys also revealed they warmed up for their Glasgow gig with a game of football in the main hall of the Barrowland.

The dramatic nose-break is just the latest in a string of stunts that the View boys encountered on the tour.

At the same gig, bass player Kieran Webster lost his microphone after launching it into the crowd and had to share a mic with Kyle.

Last month, the band were stopped in their tracks by the police for causing too much noise on the set of new video for song Shock Horror.

Neighbours also called in police over their raucous antics and late night music sessions at Kieran's flat in Dundee's Hawkhill.

The boys also caused a near riot on another leg of their 37-date tour, when Kyle got so drunk, he fell about on stage in Nottingham and had to be replaced on vocals by Kieran and Law singer Stuart Purvey.

Last year, Kyle was fined £1000 after admitting possessing cocaine and the band were banned from all 300 Travelodges in the UK after allegedly causing damage.

Are you the boy who got his nose smashed at the gig? If so call the Razz on 0141 309 3344.

Which Bitch? - track by track

ALMOST two months before its release, the Razz has been given a listen to The View's second album, Which Bitch?

And it's a cracker, the highlight being Covers, their duet with fellow Scots singer Paolo Nutini.

It starts with the Dundee band's usual jaunty acoustic style and a bar-room piano before Paolo kicks off the singing with "I pull my covers off my lady in the night/to see the cold reaction when she realises actions I've taken/to start conversation." His harmonies with Kyle Falconer are fantastic.

The chorus is underpinned by an anthemic cello, which sounds like it's from Oasis' Wonderwall and a natty trumpet which make this a sure-fire musical highlight of 2009.

And it shows that despite their party animal past, The View have become a bigger and better band that has what it takes to get into the big league.

Which Bitch? is out on February 2 next year and is the follow-up to their 2007 album Hats Off To The Buskers.

But Kyle Falconer (vocals/guitar), Kieren Webster (vocals/bass), Pete Reilly (guitar) and Steve Morrison (drums) admit they were starting to worry people had forgotten about them.

Kieren said: "If a band who I liked disappeared for the best part of a year I'd probably have moved onto something else by now, so there was always that worry at the back of my mind that other people may think the same way.

"But our second album is better than our first, without a shadow of doubt.

"This record will surprise a lot of people.

I'd say its quite challenging in places."

Here's our track by track guide:
    1: TYPICAL TIME 2
The album kicks off with a song that only lasts one minute and 30 seconds. The first thing we hear is a bluesy harmonica before a jaunty piano takes us to America's wild west. Great first lyrics: "We never spoke in three weeks man/and it's starting to freak me out/I hope there's no one gelling my bird together with all their sweet and utter charm".

    2: 5REBBECCAS
This year's great comeback single. It's a fast and furious blend of Oasis and Status Quo and shows this is a band that could get a stadium jumping.

    3: ONE OFF PRETENDER
The View rapping? Oh yes, this mid-tempo rocker will soon have the fans in the mosh pit going wild.

    4: UNEXPECTED
A brooding cello and gorgeous strings, this sweet ballad is definitely unexpected.

    5: TEMPTATION DICE
Kicks off with a rendition of Happy Birthday before the band kick into classic raw View. They do The Libertines better than they did.

    6: GLASS SMASH
Another change of direction as The View go new wave and sound like they've just stepped out of the Eighties, complete with Bono mullets.

    7: DISTANT DOUBLOON
The View turn ringmasters in this gypsy circus epic complete with lush orchestration. Potential James Bond theme anyone?

    8: JIMMY'S CRAZY CONSPIRACY
With seven outstanding songs, this feels like a step back into the ramshackle View of the first album, although there's a nice Beatles bit of brass.

    9: COVERS
An incredible coup with guest vocalist Paolo Nutini duetting with Kyle. Kyle had claimed earlier this year that they kidnapped the Paisley boy - just as well they did. Stunning.

    10: DOUBLE YELLOW LINES
Another cracking tune which sounds like The View but bigger and bolder. A top post-party tune with lyrics: "Yellow lines by the side of the road/take me home tonight".

    11: SHOCK HORROR
This will be released on the same day as the album, February 2 on 7" and download. It's another slice of old-skool View raucous.

    12: REALISATION
With its pipe it starts off sounding like a medieval folk ditty but the booming bass and call and repeat shouts as the lyrics go: "world domination makes you feel so small" make it of the now.

    13: GIVE BACK THE SUN
Getting to the end of the album now, this is nice mid-tempo rock number but doesn't bring anything to the party.

    14: GEM OF A BIRD
And so the band go off into the night with this lovely slow acoustic ballad.

On Tour - Aberdeen & Glasgow

    Aberdeen

Well its up to the Granite City today for some unexpected sunshine, which is a nice surprise. I think today is the first time in while that the band have seen some natural light. I also know they are well aware our good mates The Law are back supporting us for the rest of the tour, so that’s going to mean some more late nights.

Its straight into work and manage to get the band in for a short but sweet sound check so we can be sure we don’t have a repeat performance of last night’s technical problems. So this all done the band head out to town for an early dinner, and a look around. While I stay at the venue to get on with the oh so exciting task of fixing the broken amps.

Tonight its good to see the Law back on support and they don’t disappoint, they have the whole Lemon Tree singing along to Television Satellite & pretty much every other song in there set. They say the further North you head up our lovely country the audience gets that bit more mental, this I can see in full effect tonight as the venue is packed out. Its quite funny seeing people on their friends shoulders in such a small venue. The lads bounce onto stage with almost a point to prove. I know Kieren is especially looking forward to debuting “One off Pretender” as this is the city that gave him reason to write the song.

By the end of the set the audience looked absolutely exhausted and happy with what they’ve just seen, as well the band are looking very pleased with themselves. Tonight One off Pretender has the loudest cheer without a question as it gave them chance to give there version of events and there opinion of the perpetrators.

    Glasgow Barrowlands

Today is the gig that we’ve all been looking forward to as it’s the Barras.
Its special to me as this is where I got involved in the music industry 9 years ago, so I get to see my friends & family (my big brother works here). Even the band are up and about early again today. There in inspecting the stage just as soon as I had all the equipment out the boxes, each of them ready with five questions each that they all fire in quick succession. I think they plan it, I think they call it “the stress davey out game”.

It’s a long day for the boys. Photo shoots; approving the final version of New Video Shock Horror & tonight’s show is getting recorded. In saying this it keeps them out of our hair till Soundcheck. Which today they seem more than eager to get making noise. With all of them turning up on time.

So once soundcheck is over I don’t know where it came from but someone got hold of a football and we manage to get in a massive game of football in the main hall of the Barrowlands. When I say a game of football, I mean a rabble moving around the hall kicking, swearing and on occasion a yelp of pain as someone falls to the floor. It's like watching Rangers play!

So after today’s P.E. lesson they all head back to the dressing room for a well earned refreshment and back up to watch the rest of the Law’s & the Brogues soundcheck till the doors open.

Its not long till the view are gonna be taking to the stage for there second headline show at The Barras, the place looks almost swollen. Its really cool looking out from the stage seeing the place packed out front to back & from side to side.
The crowd tonight are a bit wild as full pint glasses fly past my head and what seems to be a small scale riot taking place. Soon the guys leap onto stage and burst into Glass Smash as the crowd jump around like mad. As everyone gets there breath back I look onto stage and just see the guys with massive grins on there faces, I think they know its gonna be a good one. I think Shock Horror got a really good reception, which is good as not a lot of people have heard its not been really had any radio play. Also seeing the entire crowd sing back Face For The Radio is something special. Gran's for Tea was played for the first time on tour also.

After last song Kyle launches himself from the stage into the crowd below and the other three quickly follow him in. Security eventually pull Kyle back to safety, half naked and shoeless with whatever clothing he had left ripped to shreds.

All this was captured on camera as the show was recorded for a DVD release at some point next year so keep 'em peeled for that coming out - is was truly an awesome show.

We later find out Kyle broke some guys nose on his crash landing into the pit. The management track the guy down and Kyle organises him a pass and invites him backstage for a beer.

All over now and onto the serious business of celebrating a gig. Well done the boys. We then head off to the Barfly to watch the Law boys play the aftershow also they are informed there is a free bar for band & crew. This is where it shows that im getting old as I head home for a cup of tea & a good night sleep, Rock & Roll eh!!.

Shock Horror by Dan & Julian

The View and Dan Henshaw and Julian Fletcher have enjoyed a fruitful relationship. Ever since the band burst kicking and screaming out of Dundee a couple of years ago, Dan and Julian have taken care of their visual needs – that’s every video from their platinum-selling debut Hats Off To The Buskers (when Dan and Julian were better known as core directors of collective Indica).

That campaign culminated in a tour documentary – which is also the basis for the recent video for the band’s 5 Rebeccas.

So here’s their latest collaboration, for new single Shock Horror: a good-looking and suspenseful performance video, with an undercurrent of impending violence.

Including the odd bit of piñata-torture.

On Tour - Leicester & York

    Leicester Charlotte
Well today we are rudely awoke by the stomping feet of a certain lead guitarist that in fairness has also been woken up 2 hours into his deep sleep. The reason for this Kyle & Pete have to go and perform Shock Horror for MTV Gonzo. So after the promise of a Bacon roll & cup of tea, they head off the bus leaving the rest of us to enjoy our well needed beauty sleep as we head for Leicester.

Fully rested we arrive a few hours later at the Leicester Charlotte, our venue for today.

What can be said about the Charlotte, apart from AAAAARRRRGGGHHH. Its commonly refered to as the worst gig in the country as nothing in the place works properly or at all. In saying this it gave the Kieren great incentive to come down and start

Winding up his beloved crew by saying " Ah haha you lot are going to have a nightmare tonight", not realising if his crew have a 'nightmare' he will too. So after Chris pointed out the error of his last statement he skulked off to the dressing room.

Today Leicester could quite possibly be the coldest place on earth, all of us as we leave the venue to go for dinner. We see a small group of dedicated fans queing up outside for the gig, we all agree that they must be barking mad to be out in this cold, however there dedication is well appreciated by the band as they sign some autograph's & pose for pictures with them.

As gig time comes round the Charlotte is packed out and as the Holy Ghost finish there set the crowd seem really up for it. Not to long and the band take to stage and the venue has turned into a complete sweatbox. Not to be put off the band start the set with Glass smash and as I mentioned before the charlotte is renownd for there prehistoric equiptment that's never been fixed. So half way through the first song I see a look of panic on Mo's face as about three of the mic stand's just crumple leaving him and the audience to hear pretty much nothing. It is soon remedied and the set continues.

My highlight of the gig was Superstar Tradesman as the crowd nearly deafened me as they sang it back.

    York Duchess
Yesterday was a day off, I headed to London to see a dear friend and the boys had a well earned rest at the hotel.

It's the first time for most of us at the Duchess so were interested to get in and see what its like (were a right nosey bunch). The place seems pretty nice but is right next to York's legendary venue Fibbers. We are done early for soundcheck and decide to head out for a look round York. We split up into little groups with Kyle, Reni, Andy & myself all deciding to take a quick look in the city's most haunted Pub. We don't see any spirits but Kyle & Reni Partake in a few. Soon after Kieren comes to join us, then the more responsible amongst us head off for some dinner.

Tonight is gonna be a sad occasion as it's the last night we have the brilliant Holy Ghost Revival on tour with us, we all watch from the side as they whip the crowd into a frenzy.

As they finish the audience start to let you know where you are as we hear the familiar cry "YORKSHIRE, YORKSHIRE, YORKSHIRE". So not long into the set major issues arise as there is power problems on stage, causing Pete's amp and backup amp to blow, leaving him not happy at all and me looking foolish (whats new there then). Its sorted soon after thanks to the me practically nicking Holy Ghost's amp literally from underneath them. Soon after Kyle invites Conner from Holy ghost up on stage for there special rendition of David Bowies Ziggy Stardust. (see video's below)

Tonight was one of those gig's that just seemed to be hard for the guys to get into, as this venue wasn't the best for the audience to participate as one fan said "it was like watching a gig through a letterbox, as the ceiling is to low and you won't see anything if your not right at barrier". I do agree and just wonder if this would have been more enjoyable if we were all next door at Fibbers.

Fans queue early for The View tickets

FANS of Dundee band The View are preparing to welcome them home at a sold-out gig in the city.

Tickets for the February 13 concert at the Caird Hall went on sale at 9am yesterday.

More than 50 people queued at the box office from around 7am, with a couple of dedicated fans camping out overnight to ensure their tickets.

By mid-afternoon the concert was sold out, ensuring a crowd of 2,300 when the band return to the stage in their home city.

Lead singer Kyle Falconer, guitarist Peter Reilly and bassist Kieren Webster attended St John's RC High School in Dundee, while drummer Steven Morrison attended Harris Academy.

They initially came together around a cover band at school, before beginning to play gigs and weddings across Dundee.

Dave McGeachan, of organisers DF Concerts, said: “Once again Dundee fans have supported local boys The View and tickets sold out in a matter of hours.

“It’s a welcome return for the band. Their homecoming gigs are always phenomenal.

“This will be one of the first chances fans have to hear fantastic new material.”

Camping out with a view to a gig

Dundee nine-year-old Graham Tarbet was so desperate for tickets to The View’s concert at the Caird Hall on February 13, he persuaded his father, also Graham, they should camp out in City Square last night to be first in today’s box office queue.

The pair, from Douglas, pitched a tent last night at 8.30 and finally got their tickets just after 9.00 this morning.
Graham Sen. said the outdoor stay was his son’s idea, as he was desperate to make sure he had tickets for the Dundee band’s gig.

He said, “It was absolutely freezing. My son is the only reason I camped out — he’s a big fan. He was excited for a wee while, but then I think the cold set-in.

“But I’m sure it will all be worth it.”

Although no other fans camped out, a queue of almost 50 formed from 7.00 this morning and, by 10.30, standing area tickets had sold out and a only a limited number of seated tickets were available.

The View sell out gig within hours

TICKETS TO see The View’s hometown concert in February sold out in a matter of hours yesterday.

The Dryburgh band will play the Caird Hall on Friday, February 13, and fans camped out all night on Thursday to ensure they would be first in the queue when they went on sale at 9am yesterday.

A number of tickets had earlier been sold to fans through the band’s website.

It’s the second time in 18 months that The View have sold out the 2300-capacity venue and Dave McGeachan of promoters DF Concerts said, “Once again Dundee fans have supported local boys The View and tickets sold out in a matter of hours.

“It’s a welcome return for the band—their homecoming gigs are always phenomenal and this will be one of the first chances fans have to hear their fantastic new material.”

One Dundee father and his nine-year-old son were so desperate for tickets to The View’s forthcoming gig, they camped out in the City Square overnight on Thursday to be first in yesterday’s box office queue.

Graham Tarbett and his son Graham junior, from Douglas, pitched a tent at 8.30pm and finally got their tickets just after 9am.

Other fans joined the queue from very early morning and by 7am a trail of around 50 people had already formed.

The View’s second album Which Bitch?, the follow-up to number one debut Hats Off to the Buskers, is set for release in February.

    Interview with Pete

Officially the hardest band ever to understand...
They've had the same jeans on for four days now, the smelly sods. And they also happen to be on their UK tour, so we caught up with The View's lead guitarist Pete Reilly while their tour bus was broken down. True story...

    Pete On...

    Touring...
The bus broke down. They're f***ing idiots. I just woke up and it was at the side of the road, I was still in my bunk from last night sleeping! We're in Shrewsbury at the minute, where the f**k is Shrewsbury! It must be near to Wales because we've just left Wales. It's just up from Birmingham I've just been informed! The best gig we've played so far was Manchester, it was brilliant because Mani came on and introduced us, so that was pretty sweet.

    Football...
I follow football big time, I support Celtic. Kieren supports Dundee, and Kyle supports Dundee United, but I support Celtic because my Dad does! There's rivalry all the time, it's just wee friendly banter shall we say! One of our engineers supports Dundee United as well so that's where most of the banter comes!

    Going to games...
We go when we can, whenever. We went to see Newcastle v Man City when we were in Newcastle, it's just whenever we get a chance we'll go to a game. It was a great game, a dubious penalty as well it was pretty cool.

    Celtic...
The League's sewn up man! It's always sewn up! No we'll have to wait and see, there's still plenty of time. I'd rather not speak about the Rangers game to be honest!

    Strachan...
He's witty isn't he! A lot Celtic supporters are not keen on him, but I don't mind him. I'm not sure why, just a lot of fans don't see him as the right man still, they still haven't accepted him. But I think he's doing fine, he's got us in the Champions League quarter-finals twice in a row, and obviously we've done well in the League under him.

    Favourite player...
It's cliche but I'd have to choose Maradona, but my favourite ever player would have to be Barry Ferguson, definitely.

The View are on Fire (Again!)

It's been a long time since I last shot The View, and a long time since I've actually enjoyed a live shoot...I was bored shooting mediocre bands in mediocre venues. I was bored, bored...bored...bored.

A few months ago at The Enemy gig, Keiren had mentioned the 'Back-to-Basics' tour, a series of smaller grungier pub/club gigs, so shooting them again was in the back of my mind for ages, eventually I seen the tour dates & venues which included Dunfermline's Velocity, Glasgow's King Tuts and Barrowlands, Kirkcaldy's White Riot and Dundee's Fatsams Live. Those are 5 dates I didn't want to miss.

I was apprehensive driving to Velocity, unsure if I had a photopass sorted, when my man on the inside txt'd me to confirm, sweet, bring it on. The gig was great, no real controversial moments and the band looked really comfortable on stage, a couple of loose moments technically but to see the boys smiling and laughing together was amazing.

The shoot was tough due to Velocity's lighting rig, designed for disco dave's dance floor diva's so everyone on stage is back lit Neon/LED, could really do with a touch more front lighting, even just occasionally would be great. I was sharing the wonderfully spacious pit with my friend Flo, a really great Tog from near Aberdeen.

Instead of moaning about the lighting, I'll let a few of my favourite photos speak for them selves...check em out.
It was supposed to be a 3-song No Flash shoot, but I managed to squeeze a few from the side of the stage...notice that little prick in the front row looking over, he thought it would be funny to rip my AAA pass off my neck and throw it into the crowd there's a word for guys like that, Twat.

Anyway's, top gig, top night...The View are officially back on Fire!!

    Police Take A Different View

DUNDEE band The View were stopped in their tracks by the police while making a new video.

It's not the first time the boys have been apprehended by the boys in blue, but this time they got away with ease.
They were filming for their new song Shock Horror when they got a visit from police, concerned by the noise. An insider said: "The footage was shot about 10pm, when lots of the band's pals turned up.

"The sliding doors at the end of the studio were open on to the yard, and the police thought there was a rave party going on."
The guys play Edinburgh Playhouse, Dundee's Caird Hall, Inverness Iron Works and Aberdeen Live Music Hall in February.

Twisted Wheel on tour with The View

It's been a mad couple of weeks for The Wheel. Since the release of Lucy the Castle on the 10th of November Jonny, Rick and Adam have been jumping from city to city and even country to country, showcasing their music in Amsterdam and Sweden as well as across the UK.

Touring with The View, Jonny found himself in the centre of a 24 hour party – exactly where he likes to be. After raucous gigs across the UK, Jonny decided against returning home to Oldham, choosing to stay on with Kyle and the rest of the View for a few more days' fun in Stoke, Glasgow and Carlisle. 'Kyle-napped' by The View's lead-singer in Stoke, Jonny spent the day exploring what the city had to offer.

Stopping at a music shop to mess around Jonny and Kyle soon came out with a ukulele each. Trying out their new instruments in pubs and bars across the city, the boys encountered a frosty reception from some boring landlords who couldn't stand their (beautiful) noise. After two days of jamming Jonny and Kyle put their ukulele skills to the test in Carlisle when they covered Lucy the Castle before The View's set.

After little break from his antics with The View, Jonny met back up with Rick and Adam, where they made their way to Sweden and then on to Amsterdam, where the band spent the day taking full advantage of sampling the cities delicacies. The gig at the Paradiso was the bands best gig abroad to date, the crowd enjoying every second of The Wheel's punk enthused stompers and dancing themselves silly in the heat.

The reaction to Lucy the Castle has been brilliant. Thanks to everyone who has bought it and everyone at the Cooler in Bristol who was havin it!

    The View Return

HERE’S an early 2009 diary entry for fans of THE VIEW.

The Dundee indie quartet will be releasing their second album, Which Bitch?, on February 2.

Hoping to build on their chart-topping debut Hats Off To The Buskers, the band have also announced a 12-date UK tour kicking off one week after the LP hits shelves.

Coinciding with the release of the14-track album will be new single Shock Horror.

The Scottish rockers reteamed with producer OWEN MORRIS, the man behind the band’s debut disc - not to mention OASIS classic Definitely Maybe.

And fans fearing the awkward experimental stage will be relieved to hear The View are sticking to their catchy tune formula, throwing in some grand orchestral manoeuvres for good measure.

    Holy Ghost Revival say farewell

"We've just gotten back from being on the road with the View, our brothers from Dundee, Scotland. We didn't really know what to expect being on tour with them for 11 shows, it ended up a great experience for all of us. The View boys and their crew were lovely.. hospitable and welcoming to all of us.

One of the highlights on the View tour was playing the legendary Astoria, one of the last shows before it's torn down. The amazing Paul Murphy has posted some clips from that show, check it out if ye wish:"

    On Tour - Cardiff

    Cardiff

We awake in Cardiff, all suffering from sore heads for some strange reason.

It's a cracking day so we don't want to waste it by lying about so we take a wander round the streets and down to the bay.

I head back to the bus about 3 when its time to load in and the boys follow on.

They are still all suffering from sore heads so they take it out on me grumping, moaning and generally annoying me as I'm trying to get everything set up.

After soundcheck all the band and crew are treated to a great Italian meal down at Cardiff Bay.

The boys are starting to brighten up a little and are looking now all forward to tonights show.

Again tonights venue is sold out and fills up early for the support act who really dig Holy Ghost Revival.

The Point is well known for it's good sound and it doesn't fail us tonight. The View really tear up the stage with again loads of crowd surfers and even a couple of folk trying to make their way onto the stage. Kierens hand was hurting quite badly tonight as he had to take the bandage off as it was getting in the way of his playing. He's a brave laddie.

Wasted Little DJ's and Superstar Tradesman got best receptions of the night for the old songs and Temptation Dice and Shock Horror of the new ones.

Afterwards all except Kieren went to Madness for the aftershow till closing time.

    On Tour - Bristol

    Bristol

We set off late from London. The first reason was they had all been partying hard last night after a sublime show at the Astoria, with the second and more worrying being that Kieren turns up to the bus nursing a broken hand. I didn't dare ask how he'd done it - I didn't want to know. We tried to get him to go to hospital and get it looked at but he reckoned he would be able to play.

Old tour manager Rob came to joins us for a few shows as Ian had to go and work with Kieren's favourite band The Frattelis (only joking Webby!) for a few days. All the band and crew were happy to see Rob again and it was nice to have a calming influence around the place.

The Thekla in Bristol is a nightmare to get into as it's actually boat docked in the harbour so shifting all the bands equipment onto the boat proved to be extremely difficult.

All the band except Kieren spend all day snoozing on the bus. We've have managed to find Webster a doctor have a look at his hand but unless he visits the hospital for an Xray all the Doc can do give him some strong pain killers and bandage it up.

Showtime and and the gig takes a bit to get going. Skag Trendy is probably the song that shakes the Bristol crowd up a bit. Thereafter rest of the gig goes really well with a few crowd surfers and pint throwing.

Afterwards we all sat up singing till 5am except Chris who went to bed not long after midnight.

Anyone who goes to sleep first on the bus usually has some kind of prank played on them.

His punishment was to be caked in silly string while sound asleep in his bunk, then stapling his curtains closed so he couldn't get out.

He has vowed sweet revenge on me... I'm still waiting...

    ’Shock Horror’ video shoot blog

So, we arrived at the studios in acton at 9am and the bands bus was already there, parked up from the night before. They had driven from the gig in oxford the night before straight to the shoot. The boys were all up and about, a bit pale looking it so early an hour for them but bouncing around ready to go. The studio was a huge ex tram terminus, and as pete said, it was so cold it was like a massive fridge. But they were filming with Dan, Julian and Simon who directed all their other videos so everyone was totally buzzed to see each other and we all had a great time. The boys got suited and booted this time and it was just brilliant seeing them striding about the place in their suits. They looked amazing! We started off with all the close ups in the morning. Looked great on the little screens we were watching on. There was a shit load of powder paint involved in this shoot and the first up and raring to get covered in green paint was Kyle. We had a break for lunch just after he got totally covered so he changed his clothes but he went to the pub for lunch with green hair. Looking like the Hulk. Too funny… we were all screaming with laughter. In the afternoon Pete, Kieren and Mo all got blown up with coloured paint so they were all in a complete mess too. Such a shame to ruin their amazing suits and coats but it had to be done. Everyone on the crew, directors and camera crew etc… love working with the boys so energy was high even when it got to the evening and we'd been going all day. All the performance footage was shot right at the end of the day, about 10pm when lots of the bands friends turned up. . The big sliding doors at the end of the studio were open on to the yard, and we had a visit from the police who were driving past and thought there was some kind of rave party going on. We finished about midnight. Totally knackered but everyone just had the best time. The crew loaded the bands equipment back on the bus to go to the Astoria for gig the next day.. not too pleased with us as all the powder paint had got into the guitars and drums and they had to be taken to bits and cleaned with compressed air. Davey especially not too pleased. Ouch! Sorry about that davey…...
