A peek into the crystal ball of pop

WHAT does 2007 hold for pop fans? Gary Ryan takes a look into the future..

...The View - Liberteenyboppers

PREPARE to gaze at your navel so much, onlookers will assume it leads to Narnia! The View are "the New Libertines" (brought to you by James Endeacott, the man who signed Pete Doherty and "the other one") who sing ditties about wearing jeans for four days in a row.

Having formed in Dundee in 2005, they cribbed their name from their local, which they were later banned from for driving a scooter across the bar - as you do.

In a quest perhaps to locate to a more depressing place than their hometown on a map, they recorded their debut album, Hats Off To Buskers (due January 22) on a farm in Scarborough.

Success is assured Both of their singles - Wasted Little DJs and Superstar Tradesman - reached number 15 in the charts last year.

What to say "They make music that genuinely connects to the average teenager on the street."

What not to say "Where can I buy a glowstick, lads?"

Fact! Drummer Steve Morrison was arrested with - oh, who else? - Pete Doherty for driving the wrong way down a one-way street. A metaphor, really, for Senor Shambles' life...
