WHAT a brilliant year it's been for Scottish music.

St Andrews' KT Tunstall nominated for a Grammy, Franz Ferdinand's music all over the year's hottest American show, Entourage, Belle & Sebastian selling out the Hollywood Bowl, Mogwai soundtracking the Zidane movie and new bands like The Fratellis, The View and Camera Obscura. And still no record deal for the MacDonald brothers.

On Thursday night, Paolo Nutini played the Glasgow Barras. Some people have compared Paolo to James Blunt, which is like comparing Irn-Bru to Dr Pepper, or Kenny Dalglish to Kevin Keegan. He's in a different league.
