The View looks better after illness

THE VIEW look like being able to perform at Glasgow’s Hogmanay show in George Square despite all four band members having been struck down by illness over the past few days, writes Rocktalk reporter Alan Wilson.

Lead singer Kyle Falconer was taken into hospital on Tuesday suffering from pneumonia, and in the following days the other three—Steve Morrison, Kieren Webster and Pete Reilly—all fell ill, sparking fears they had contracted the same illness.

However, band manager Grant Dickson last night said the good news is they were only feeling the effects of heavy flu, aches and pains and are already on the mend.

“They’ll be all right for Sunday,” Grant said.

“Kyle is out of hospital and will obviously have to take things a bit easier for the next wee while, but the others should all be back to full fitness by then.

“They’ve got a hectic schedule ahead so a couple of days in bed won’t have done them any harm.”

The View were forced to cancel their headline slot at The Courier’s Rocktalk Dundee Showcase gig at Yuppies nightclub on Thursday night and last night Grant apologised on their behalf.

“They all wanted to play and they never like to miss a party,” he said.

“They are sorry for all their fans who wanted to see them playing in Dundee one last time before the single and album come out next month.”

Despite The View’s non-appearance, the Rocktalk gig was a huge success, with around 700 people attending.

Those who bought tickets to see the band but did not go to the event because of their withdrawal have until January 13 to claim a refund from Groucho’s music shop in Dundee.

The View fly out early on Monday to America for a short tour.
