Pneumonia floors View lead singer

HIGH-FLYING Dundee band The View have been grounded after lead singer Kyle Falconer (pictured) took ill and was admitted to hospital suffering from pneumonia, writes Rocktalk reporter Alan Wilson.

Kyle (20) took ill on Monday and was sent to bed by his parents. However yesterday it became apparent he was becoming worse and he was taken to the doctor, who arranged for him to go to hospital.

His uncle Mike Knight said last night, “He wasn’t very well on Christmas Day, he spent most of the time in his bed and just made an odd appearance.

“His sister took him to the doctor this morning and he said he’d better go up to Ninewells.

“He was getting x-rays and being checked out and he’ll be kept in overnight.

“I think he’s just really exhausted, they’ve been touring for a long time and he just needs a break.

“Obviously he’s got pneumonia so you have to take care but he should be fine if he takes it easy.”

Band manager Grant Dickson said last night, “He was obviously unwell and we hope he makes a speedy recovery.”

The band may now have to cancel their immediate itinerary, including the Rocktalk Dundee Showcase gig at Yuppies tomorrow, followed by their Hogmanay show at George Square in Glasgow.

They are also due to fly out to America at the start of next year for a few shows in New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

“We’ll just have to wait and see how long it takes him to get back to full health,” Grant added.

“The rest of the band will be going on Thursday so they might do an acoustic thing or jam with some of the other musicians.”

The band’s new single Same Jeans is due for release on January 15, followed a week later by their debut album Hats Off To The Buskers.
