Newz Bar review

ROCK band The View tested their new tracks on Liverpool when they launched a monthly music event for the city.

The Scottish band headlined an intimate gig at Newz Bar and were joined by Liverpool quartet The Grants.

Organisers are hoping the event, Newz Live, will attract big names as well as undiscovered acts.

They have already had interest from Liverpool bands The Coral and The Zutons, Noel Gallagher and Starsailor.

The View, who enjoyed huge success with their chart-topping hits, are working on their second album.

Guitarist Pete Reilly said: “It’s great to be back in Liverpool. We’ve done loads of gigs here but we’ve never performed at Newz before.

“The fans in Liverpool are great. We were approached to do Newz Live and thought it would be a great chance to test some of our new stuff.
“I think the fans will like it, the new songs are much more mature.”

Pete was joined by bandmate Kyle Falconer for a live acoustic performance at the bar on Water Street.

The crowd, which included Hollyoaks actor Kent Riley (Zak), went wild for songs from their debut album Hats Off to the Buskers.

Indie rockers The Grants also got a huge reception.

The launch also featured Catacoustic and DJ Phat Phil Cooper.
