Following more weeks of speculation and rumour about the Versus Cancer line up, the organisers have now announced yet more acts added to the line-up.
The View will join The Fratellis, legendary Manchester acts Happy Mondays, Inspiral Carpets and New York’s finest the Fun Lovin’ Criminals at the event.
Also on the bill will be the January winners of Xfm Manchester's Uploaded competition for new and emerging talent.
Versus Cancer returns for the third time at the Arena in Manchester on February 23, with this batch of bands the first confirmations of an eagerly awaited line up, with more big name announcements promised in the coming weeks.
Tickets are on sale now from the Xfm Xchange on 0871 222 1049 or from the Xfm Online Ticket Shop here.
The charity, which raises money for cancer research, awareness and support groups are hoping to hit their £1 million target this year, and the February gig marks the first of their 2008 programme of events.
It's rumoured in The Sun's Bizarre column (here.) to showcase an ego filled supergroup, fronted by Oasis' bad boy Liam Gallagher which could lead to some on stage fireworks.
The band dubbed 'Manchester United' also contains Ian Brown, and members of Freebass - the bass-laiden band featuring The Smiths' Andy Rourke, New Order's Peter Hook and Mani from Primal Scream, calling on help from fellow Mancunian stars, singer Tim Burgess of The Charlatans and Primal's frontman Bobby Gillespie to guest in the recording of the band's debut album.
Rourke who organises the charity show is planning to have other headline acts lined up to perform including The Verve, James, Inspiral Carpets and Happy Mondays. Rourke stated, "This year's gig is going to be talked about for years to come. We've got some of the biggest bands of the moment lined up as well as some legendary acts."
